Methodology

How Cashewback compares rates.

Our objective is to make comparisons understandable and reproducible. The live-data system is still being integrated; the rules below define the intended production methodology.

1. Collect

Rates will be collected from reward portals or authorized data sources and stored with a timestamp, merchant identity, offer type, and applicable qualifiers.

2. Normalize

Percentage cash back, fixed-dollar rewards, points, and miles are different instruments. We will display original units rather than pretending they are identical. Any future conversion assumptions will be explicitly labeled.

3. Rank

For straightforward percentage cash-back offers, the highest eligible percentage is shown first. “Up to,” new-member, targeted, card-linked, or capped offers will be flagged instead of silently treated as equivalent.

4. Freshness

Each production rate will have a last-checked timestamp. Because portals can change offers between checks, users should confirm the final rate on the provider site before buying.

5. Corrections

If a rate is wrong or stale, the production site will provide a correction path and maintain the source/time of the replacement value.
